where do I start?

Have you always wondered what goes on behind the curtain in training a sport dog?  How do service dogs seem so calm and relaxed anywhere they go?  Why do these dogs handle the world so easily?  The answer is proper puppy foundations.  While we can absolutely teach an old dog new tricks, we can also use critical periods of puppy development to our advantage and bring out your puppy’s full potential. The Performance Puppy Package (try saying that 3x fast…I know, I’m a sucker for an alliteration) is a comprehensive training and support plan to start your puppy off right. This package is best started before 6 months old. Is your puppy older than 6 months? No worries! Your dog can start their sport career anytime, this package just isn’t the right fit to get you there. See one-on-one lessons for customizable support.

setting the scene

People often joke that they are just trying to “survive” puppyhood. Young puppies should not be extremely challenging or difficult. This should be an age of discovery, exploration, play, and relationship building. When we approach our puppy just trying to “make it through”, we are loosing out on so many amazing opportunities to build them into the amazing dog we hope to one day have. And I’m not taking about competitive heeling, rock solid place skills, or a 21 sequence agility course, I’m talking about the emotional and social skills that will set an adult dog up for success later in life. Skills such as neutrality, engagement, resilience, problem solving, settling, and arousal control are the foundation for any well trained dog.

it’s all fun and games
