the team behind RED DOG

Hi! I’m Alanna.

You’ll typically find me accompanied by my three red dogs, Fawkes, Kit, and Rip. I am a self proclaimed dog sport enthusiast. I actively compete in agility, barn hunt, and dock diving, I’m a sucker for a ribbon and a new acronym to put on the end of my dog’s name. Needless to say, I’m deep down the dog-rabbit hole.

From a young age I knew I wanted a career with animals. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Diego State University and began working in zoological and wildlife rehab. I cared for flamingos, penguins, parrots, gators, raptors, and many other critters in between. I loved it. What I didn’t love was working every weekend and holidays and missing out on time with my kids and husband. Eventually, I said goodbye to my exotic co-workers and opted for the next best thing, a doberman. Trust me, I have handled many a creature tamer than Fawkes, except cranes…they can keep the cranes.

Long story short, I wouldn’t be nearly the trainer I am today without the wrecking ball she took to my life. She has taught me how to train with patience and empathy. She has taught me how to be a good teammate. And most importantly, she has taught me to alway keep it fun!
